Al-Mustaqbal University Strengthens Its International Presence Through a Promising Partnership with UNIMED

Strengthened its international presence, Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, by holding a bilateral virtual meeting with the Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED) as part of its strategy to internationalize higher education and expand its network of international academic partnerships. The meeting explored prospects for joint cooperation and mechanisms for engaging the University in UNIMED's programs and projects at both the European and Mediterranean levels. During the meeting, the University presented its institutional journey and academic structure, which comprises fifteen colleges, highlighting its achievements in scientific research, international rankings, sustainable development, and international cooperation. It also showcased its experience in delivering postgraduate programs in partnership with Malaysian and Egyptian universities. For its part, the UNIMED delegation introduced the Union's programs and cooperation opportunities, emphasizing the importance of active participation in its activities to strengthen universities' international presence. The delegation also commended Al-Mustaqbal University's advanced institutional performance, particularly in scientific research, international rankings, global partnerships, and sustainable development. UNIMED further expressed its readiness to involve Al-Mustaqbal University in upcoming calls for several significant programs, encouraging early preparation through the formation of dedicated working teams and the establishment of international partnerships to enhance the University's opportunities to secure European-funded projects. The University's delegation was headed by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, with the participation of several academic and administrative leaders. The UNIMED delegation was led by Dr. Marcello Scalisi, Executive Director of the Union, accompanied by the Union's program directors. This initiative contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by promoting international academic collaboration, strengthening research cooperation, and expanding participation in international and European projects that support sustainable development and excellence in higher education.
