College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes a Specialized Training Course to Prepare Medical Unit Teams for Serving Arbaeen Pilgrims

The College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized training course on Monday, June 29, 2026, to prepare the University’s medical unit teams, with the participation of a distinguished group of volunteer students from various colleges and departments specializing in medical sciences. The course was held as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s preparations to provide healthcare services to pilgrims during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him). It aimed to enhance the competence and readiness of volunteer medical teams to effectively respond to various emergency situations in accordance with approved medical standards, thereby ensuring the delivery of safe and efficient healthcare services throughout the pilgrimage season. The training program combined both theoretical and practical sessions, covering the management of choking, fainting, wounds, bleeding, burns, and fractures, in addition to hands-on training in first aid and the measurement of vital signs, including respiratory rate, heart rate, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels. The program sought to strengthen participants’ rapid response capabilities and improve their field preparedness while contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education. The course was delivered by Mr. Zaid Jawdat Al-Azzawi, Assistant Lecturer and Activities Coordinator in the Department of Anesthesia, with the participation of the volunteer medical team. The program featured practical exercises and simulated emergency scenarios that enhanced the participants’ practical skills and prepared them to serve efficiently and confidently within the University’s medical unit. The course was attended by Professor Dr. Zahraa Halim Al-Qayyim, Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies, who commended the efforts devoted to organizing and implementing the training program. She praised its scientific and organizational quality and emphasized that investing in the training of volunteers is a fundamental pillar for ensuring the provision of high-quality healthcare services during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
