In a new academic achievement that reinforces its distinguished leadership, the College of Law has secured a remarkable milestone by ranking first for the second consecutive year among all Iraqi universities and colleges—both public and private—in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16): Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026. This outstanding accomplishment comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University's leadership among the 43 Iraqi universities and higher education institutions participating in the rankings, reaffirming the College's steadfast commitment and significant contribution to translating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into institutional practices, academic initiatives, and legal activities that generate tangible societal impact. Presidential Support and Strategic Planning This achievement would not have been possible without the unlimited support and continuous patronage of the University President, whose unwavering commitment to the College, together with the provision of all necessary resources and facilities, helped overcome challenges and elevate academic excellence to international standards. Furthermore, the committee responsible for preparing and monitoring SDG 16 played a decisive role in developing the strategic roadmap and transforming vision into reality. The committee was led with distinction by Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, Dean of the College of Law, who formulated a comprehensive strategy, precisely defined objectives, and directed all efforts toward excellence. The committee also benefited from the effective academic supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Fatimah Abdul Rahim, who ensured accurate academic follow-up and the provision of robust scientific evidence. In addition, Dr. Asaad Ghali Hamza, Director of the Quality Assurance Division, made outstanding contributions by reviewing performance indicators and ensuring their full compliance with the highest international standards of quality assurance and accreditation. Al-Mustaqbal University is the top private university in Iraq.
