As part of the efforts of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries at the College of Engineering to promote scientific cooperation and benefit from international academic expertise, the department organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled: “Smart Water Injection Technology and Its Impact on Scale Formation and Crude Oil Productivity from Oil Wells.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Zahra Aghaei Far from the Faculty of Petroleum Engineering and Natural Gas Technology at Sahand University of Technology, Islamic Republic of Iran. She holds a Ph.D. from University of Stavanger and possesses advanced research expertise in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) using water injection technologies, particularly smart water injection, through laboratory experiments, modeling, and engineering simulation. The workshop addressed the scientific principles of smart water technology and its role in improving crude oil recovery from petroleum reservoirs. It also examined the impact of this technology on scale formation and its implications for the efficiency and productivity of oil wells. Furthermore, the lecturer presented key research findings and recent practical applications in this vital field, which has gained increasing attention within the global petroleum industry. The workshop was attended by a number of academic staff members, researchers, and undergraduate students. The scientific discussions enriched the participants’ specialized knowledge and contributed to strengthening scientific communication and the exchange of academic expertise among educational institutions. The workshop contributed to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including: • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
