The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, signed an official Memorandum of Understanding (Letter of Intent) with the prestigious University of Reading in the United Kingdom, aiming to open new horizons for academic and scientific cooperation and to develop dual-degree programs and research twinning between both institutions.
The signing ceremony and discussions were attended by a high-level delegation, including the Cultural Attaché of Iraq in the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi. The British side was represented by an academic delegation headed by Professor Elizabeth Allen, Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for International Relations, Professor Keiichi Nakata from Henley Business School, Mr. Alex Button, Director of Global Engagement, and Ms. Irem Ozsoy, Regional Director of Student Recruitment.
The memorandum focuses on exploring mechanisms for academic twinning, providing scholarships and tuition discounts for students, and identifying opportunities for joint scientific research. The ceremony concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields between both sides.
On the sidelines of the visit, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the Iraqi Cultural Attaché met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading in front of the Central Library to follow up on their academic progress and encourage excellence. This initiative aligns with Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategy to strengthen its position within the international higher education landscape and to provide the best opportunities for its students and academic staff.
