As part of its vision to expand its international partnerships and strengthen collaboration with leading global institutions, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the University of Reading, United Kingdom, aimed at enhancing academic and research cooperation and fostering scientific exchange between the two institutions.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Iraqi Cultural Attaché to the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi, alongside a distinguished academic and administrative delegation from the University of Reading. The delegation included Professor Elizabeth Allen, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Head of the Global Academy; Professor Keiichi Nakata, Professor of Social Informatics and Director of the Informatics Research Centre at Henley Business School; Mr. Alex Boughton, Director of Global Engagement and Executive Assistant to the Director of External Relations; and Ms. Irem Ozsoy, Senior Regional Manager for International Student Recruitment.
The bilateral meetings featured extensive discussions on future avenues of collaboration between the two institutions. The discussions focused on developing joint academic programs, establishing dual-degree pathways and academic progression schemes, exploring scholarship opportunities and student support initiatives, and strengthening cooperation in scientific research through joint projects, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among researchers and faculty members.
The talks also addressed the development of a sustainable strategic partnership that would contribute to advancing higher education and scientific research while creating valuable opportunities for students and researchers at both universities.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the British delegation as a symbol of the strong academic ties between the two institutions and to mark the beginning of this promising partnership.
In a gesture reflecting their commitment to supporting Iraqi students abroad, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy and Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Ahmadi met with a group of Iraqi students and researchers studying at the University of Reading. During the meeting, they listened to the students’ academic experiences, discussed their needs, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and contributing to the development of Iraq through the knowledge and expertise they acquire internationally.
This initiative forms part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic efforts to strengthen its position within the global higher education landscape and expand cooperation with internationally recognized universities, thereby enhancing the quality of education and scientific research while creating broader academic and professional opportunities for its students and faculty members.
