Supporting Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in a National Workshop on Activating Science and Technology Parks

A delegation from Al-Mustaqbal University, representing the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, participated in the workshop on the activation and operation of Science and Technology Parks in Iraqi universities. The event was organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and hosted by the Technological University in Baghdad on Monday, June 8, 2026. The workshop brought together academic leaders and representatives from several Iraqi universities. The Al-Mustaqbal University delegation was headed by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, representing the University President. The delegation also included Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Science and Technology Parks Department; Dr. Samir Abbas Badrawi, Director of the Cultural and International Relations Department; Prof. Dr. Saad Fathallah Al-Alam, Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit; and Prof. Dr. Iman Abdul Aziz, Director of the Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up Division. The workshop highlighted the Ministry’s vision and strategic plans for activating Science and Technology Parks across Iraqi universities, aiming to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship, and the transformation of scientific research outcomes into sustainable developmental and economic projects. During his remarks, Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi emphasized the importance of establishing effective partnerships between universities and both the public and private sectors to support innovation ecosystems and technology transfer. He stressed the need to nurture entrepreneurial and applied projects while empowering students and graduates to transform their creative ideas into productive ventures that contribute to economic and social development. Al-Zuhairi also presented several successful initiatives and experiences implemented by Al-Mustaqbal University in the fields of innovation, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship. He highlighted the university’s achievements in supporting researchers and innovators and providing a stimulating academic environment that fosters creativity. He noted that these experiences represent a practical model that can contribute to the development of Science and Technology Parks across Iraqi universities. The university’s participation in this national event reflects its strategic vision of promoting a culture of innovation, strengthening applied scientific research, and building a knowledge-driven academic environment capable of contributing to sustainable development goals and the knowledge-based economy.
