Almustaqbal University Participates in an Erasmus+ Workshop to Enhance International Cooperation and Develop Higher Education

Almustaqbal University participated in the first day of the specialized Erasmus+ workshop, held under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Almustaqbal University, with the participation of more than 110 representatives from universities and higher education institutions. This participation comes as part of the university’s continuous efforts to strengthen its international presence and develop its academic partnerships with global educational institutions. This participation reflects Almustaqbal University’s vision of supporting academic internationalization, expanding opportunities for scientific and research cooperation, and benefiting from leading European programs in the development of higher education. It also aligns with the university’s directions in innovation, sustainability, digital transformation, and improving the quality of education according to international best practices. The workshop continues for three days and aims to enhance participants’ understanding of Erasmus+ opportunities and the mechanisms for benefiting from its projects in the fields of international academic cooperation, academic mobility, capacity building, and the development of educational and research projects. These efforts contribute to enabling universities to prepare competitive initiatives with sustainable academic and institutional impact. The first day of the workshop addressed several key themes of the program, foremost among them the priorities of Erasmus+, including inclusion and diversity, digital transformation, environmental sustainability and climate action, as well as strengthening community engagement and democratic values as essential pillars for developing modern higher education environments. The workshop also reviewed the opportunities available for Iraqi universities within International Credit Mobility programs, Capacity Building in Higher Education projects, Erasmus Mundus programs, and Jean Monnet initiatives, in addition to discussing the mechanisms for preparing competitive projects and the criteria used for evaluating them. The discussions focused on the importance of aligning academic and research proposals with national priorities and higher education development indicators, in a way that enhances the ability of Iraqi universities to build impactful international projects and supports their capacities in education, scientific research, innovation, and community service. Almustaqbal University’s participation in this workshop affirms its commitment to expanding its network of international partnerships, strengthening its presence in European programs, and developing the capacities of its staff and students in academic mobility, capacity building, and international project management. This contributes to reinforcing its position as one of Iraq’s leading universities in academic internationalization and institutional development. This direction is in line with Almustaqbal University’s vision of building an integrated university model that combines modern education, applied scientific research, innovation, sustainability, and international partnerships, strengthening the university’s role in developing higher education and serving the Sustainable Development Goals.
