Al-Mustaqbal University and Babylon Governorate Discuss Transforming Development Challenges into Research Projects that Serve Society

In implementation of the directives of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdy, and within the framework of the University’s commitment to its social responsibility and its developmental role in serving the community, identifying priority development challenges across various sectors, and linking them with academic and research institutions to develop evidence-based scientific and practical solutions, Eng. Khalid Kadhim Al-Salihi, Director of the Scientific Outputs Marketing Division at the University, paid an official visit to the Babylon Governorate Office. During the visit, Al-Salihi met with the Deputy Governor for Planning Affairs, the Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs, the Director of the Public Policies and Planning Directorate, and a number of specialists to discuss mechanisms for utilizing the scientific and research capabilities of Al-Mustaqbal University in addressing the challenges facing the Governorate’s institutions and vital sectoral departments, particularly in the fields of water, energy, environment, youth and sports, urban planning, municipalities, roads and bridges, local security, and agriculture. The meeting also explored ways to transform these challenges into research themes and applied studies to be undertaken by the University’s faculty members and researchers through their scientific projects, theses, and dissertations. Both parties emphasized the importance of building an effective partnership between Al-Mustaqbal University and state institutions to ensure that scientific research is directed toward addressing real-life issues affecting citizens and supporting sustainable development efforts throughout the Governorate. For his part, Al-Salihi explained that this initiative represents a practical step toward marketing scientific outputs and linking them to actual community needs by transforming academic knowledge into applicable solutions that support decision-makers, contribute to the development of public services, and enhance institutional performance efficiency. He further noted that the University had previously sent an official letter to the Governorate’s departments and institutions expressing its readiness to translate the development challenges facing Babylon Governorate in various economic, social, service, and environmental sectors into applied studies, research projects, and practical graduation projects. This visit comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to promote the concept of a productive and socially impactful university, strengthen the integration between scientific research and local development requirements, and achieve tangible and sustainable developmental impact across Babylon Governorate.
