Awareness Course Titled “The Role of the University Community in Reducing Domestic Violence” in the Department of Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized an awareness course on Sunday, 24/5/2026, under the activities of the Women’s Affairs Division, entitled: “The Role of the University Community in Reducing Domestic Violence.” The course was presented by Assistant Lecturer Estabraq Aref Mohammed, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and students. The course aimed to raise community awareness about the importance of the role of universities and educational institutions in reducing domestic violence, promoting a culture of respect and understanding within the family and society, as well as highlighting the psychological and social effects resulting from this phenomenon. The course included several topics discussing the concept of domestic violence, its causes, and methods of prevention, in addition to the role of the university community in strengthening family cohesion through awareness, guidance, and psychological and social support. The course witnessed positive interaction from the attendees through discussions and interventions that emphasized the importance of continuing awareness activities that contribute to building a more conscious and stable society. This course aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5: Gender Equality, and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among Iraqi private universities.
