A faculty member from the Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science held a scientific workshop on Thursday, 14/5/2026, titled “Food Safety and Sterilization,” presented by Dr. Karrar Majid Ubaid and Dr. Asil Amer Hadi, as part of the department’s scientific and awareness activities.
The workshop addressed the importance of food safety and the correct methods of sterilization to reduce contamination and protect public health. It also highlighted modern scientific approaches adopted in food preservation and quality assurance in accordance with approved health and laboratory standards.
In addition, the workshop included an explanation of several topics related to sources of food contamination and preventive measures, as well as the role of sterilization in enhancing food safety and reducing health risks caused by various pollutants.
The workshop witnessed active engagement and participation from attendees, reflecting the Department of Biochemistry’s commitment to organizing scientific events that contribute to spreading health awareness and enhancing academic and research knowledge among students and researchers.
This activity comes within the efforts of the Department of Biochemistry to support scientific and educational initiatives and promote concepts of health and safety, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education, good health, and well-being.
