As part of its ongoing scientific activities aimed at promoting environmental and agricultural awareness, the College of Agricultural Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific awareness workshop on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, entitled “Plant Health for Environmental Sustainability and Food Security”, in conjunction with the International Day of Plant Health. The workshop was held under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Technologies, Professor Dr. Mahdi Abdul Kadhim Abdul, and with the follow-up of the Assistant Dean, Professor Dr. Tahani Jawad Mohammed Ali. The workshop featured a series of specialized scientific lectures delivered by distinguished faculty members, including Professor Dr. Majeed Kadhim Abbas, Professor Dr. Aqeel Handhal, and Assistant Lecturer Khalid Kadhim. The lectures highlighted the latest scientific approaches used in protecting plants from pests and diseases, as well as the importance of plant health as a key factor in achieving environmental sustainability and strengthening food security. The workshop also witnessed active participation and valuable discussions among faculty members and students, focusing on the importance of agricultural and environmental awareness and the role of academic institutions in spreading scientific knowledge and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. This event comes as part of a series of scientific and awareness activities regularly organized by Al-Mustaqbal University in support of environmental and agricultural awareness and to provide the academic community with modern scientific knowledge that contributes to sustainable development. At the conclusion of the workshop, awareness brochures were distributed to students throughout the university campus with the aim of enhancing environmental and agricultural culture and emphasizing the importance of plant health in preserving ecosystems.
