Building and Construction Engineering Techniques Department Organizes a Workshop on Professional CV Writing Skills As part of the academic and training curriculum of the Building and Construction Engineering Techniques Department at the Engineering Technical College, and with the aim of preparing students and graduates for the labor market, the department organized a specialized workshop titled: "Crafting a Standout Professional CV" Presented by the department faculty member, Asst. Lect. Sally Seelan Hussein. Workshop Objectives and Content: The workshop aimed to empower participants with the necessary tools to prepare a professional CV that reflects their engineering and technical capabilities. During the session, Ms. Sally Seelan Hussein highlighted several strategic pillars, most notably: Engineering Standards for CVs: How to showcase engineering projects and technical software proficiency (such as AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) to attract construction and engineering consultancy firms. Navigating ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems): Explaining how to utilize keywords to ensure CVs pass automated screening when applying to major companies. Academic vs. Professional Formatting: Clarifying the differences between academic and professional CVs and how to choose the most suitable template for each stage. Interaction and Outcomes: The workshop witnessed significant engagement from fourth-year students and graduates. Discussions were held on how to write effective "Cover Letters" and the importance of "Soft Skills" in enhancing an engineer's profile. For its part, the Building and Construction Engineering Techniques Department emphasized that organizing such workshops is integral to the college's vision of supporting students both academically and professionally, ensuring they secure career opportunities that match their scientific competence.
