The Department of Medical Physics at the College of Sciences, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized, on Monday, April 28, 2026, a dialogue session titled “The Rights of Women and Children in Arab Society,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Fatima Makki Shaalan, Assistant Lecturer Lubna Ali Jalil, and Assistant Lecturer Fatima Bassem Yaseen. The session came as part of the department’s scientific and awareness activities aimed at strengthening social and humanitarian awareness and promoting a culture of rights and social justice within the university environment. The session addressed major issues related to the rights of women and children in Arab society by highlighting the legal, social, and humanitarian dimensions of these rights, and emphasizing the importance of protecting them as essential pillars for building a balanced society based on fairness, human dignity, and respect for family and social values. It also reviewed some of the key challenges faced by women and children, particularly discrimination, violence, and deprivation of basic rights, while stressing the importance of community awareness as an effective means of reducing such problems. The presenters discussed several important themes, including women’s rights to education, work, and social participation, as well as children’s rights to healthcare, proper upbringing, education, and protection from neglect and exploitation. The session also highlighted the role of laws, legislation, and educational and social institutions in safeguarding these rights and reinforcing their practical implementation. It was emphasized that respecting the rights of women and children is not only a legal matter, but also a civilizational indicator that reflects the awareness of society and its ability to build a safe and just environment for all its members. The session further stressed that promoting these principles requires integration between the family, educational institutions, legal bodies, and media platforms in order to build a socially aware culture that respects rights and supports the groups most in need of protection and care. It also pointed out that empowering women and protecting children’s rights directly contribute to social stability and cohesion, while helping prepare generations that are more aware and more capable of participating positively in building the future. This activity was aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, through supporting awareness of women’s rights, emphasizing the importance of protecting children, and promoting humanitarian values that contribute to building a more just, balanced, and equitable society. Through such activities, the Department of Medical Physics at Al-Mustaqbal University continues to connect academic knowledge with contemporary social issues, contributing to the promotion of legal and humanitarian awareness and reinforcing the university’s role in serving society and spreading a culture of responsibility and mutual respect.
