The workshop was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Banin Ma’an Karim, with follow-up from the department administration as part of the approved scientific and awareness plan.
The workshop aimed to enhance students’ awareness of the concept of freedom of expression as one of the fundamental rights guaranteed by international conventions and constitutions, while emphasizing the importance of practicing this right responsibly in a manner that respects ethical and legal values.
The workshop highlighted the concept of freedom of expression and its importance in building society, referring to Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It also clarified the legal and ethical boundaries of this right, and the distinction between freedom of opinion and the misuse of speech that may negatively impact social peace.
Additionally, the workshop addressed the importance of raising awareness among young people on how to express their opinions and ideas in a conscious and responsible manner that does not harm others or violate their privacy, and that contributes to promoting a culture of constructive dialogue within society.
The workshop witnessed active student engagement through questions and participation in discussions, which helped reinforce the presented concepts and enhance their social awareness.
This workshop comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the Department of Biology at Al-Mustaqbal University to promote cultural and legal awareness among students and to develop their skills in responsible expression in line with the requirements of contemporary society.
