Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Roudhan Salman, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college, supervised by the Head of the Unit, Prof. Dr. Thanaa Bahaa Al-Din Abdullah, organized a development workshop entitled: “The Importance of Integrating Women into the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.” The workshop was held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Hall (301), third floor of the Humanities Building.
The workshop was attended by a number of first-year students from the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences. The lecturer addressed the importance of women’s role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting their contributions to supporting families, improving health, increasing savings, creating a sustainable environment, strengthening the economy, improving education, enhancing decision-making efficiency, increasing security, reducing hunger, and boosting productivity.
The workshop emphasized that women and girls are at the core of sustainable development, and that their inclusion contributes to reducing the gender gap, strengthening their role in supporting family income, improving health and education levels, as well as their active role in environmental preservation, economic development, and peacebuilding.
The workshop received positive engagement from the students, who actively participated in discussions that enriched the workshop topics.
This activity falls ضمن the implementation plan of the National Strategy to Combat Violence Against Women and Girls for 2026 (Prevention Pillar / Second Clause), and it also contributes to achieving Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on quality education.
