As part of its efforts to promote health and cultural awareness, the College of Education at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an awareness activity addressing the phenomenon of smoking within the university community. The activity was supported by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Roudhan Salman, and supervised by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, headed by Professor Dr. Thanaa Bahaa Al-Din Abdullah.
The activity was conducted by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit with the participation of Assistant Lecturer Shadan Salah Shubbar, Head of the Psychological Counseling Committee in the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education, and attended by students from the Departments of Educational and Psychological Sciences, as well as Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education.
The activity included an awareness workshop that addressed the concept of smoking, its causes, and its negative effects on physical health, particularly respiratory diseases and pneumonia, in addition to highlighting methods of prevention.
The event took place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., in Hall (302) on the third floor of the Humanities Building.
The activity was implemented through an awareness lecture supported by the preparation and display of colorful printed posters carrying health messages and guidance. These posters were distributed across various college buildings to effectively communicate awareness messages about the harmful effects of smoking.
The activity aimed to enhance students’ cultural and scientific awareness of the health risks associated with smoking and to strengthen their role in promoting community awareness and reducing this phenomenon within the university environment.
This activity aligns with the achievement of the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4), which focuses on ensuring quality education and promoting health awareness among students.
