Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become one of the most important modern technologies that has brought about a significant transformation across various sectors, particularly in transportation. It has played an effective role in developing transport systems, making them more efficient, safer, and more sustainable. This helps address growing challenges such as traffic congestion, accidents, and environmental pollution. One of the key roles of AI in transportation is traffic management. Intelligent algorithms are used to analyze real-time traffic data, predict congestion, and dynamically control traffic signals to reduce bottlenecks. This leads to smoother traffic flow and shorter travel times. AI is also widely used in autonomous vehicles, which are among the most important innovations in modern transportation. These vehicles rely on technologies such as machine learning and computer vision to recognize roads, pedestrians, and obstacles. This significantly reduces accidents caused by human error and enhances road safety. In addition, AI contributes to improving public transportation systems by analyzing passenger data and identifying peak times. This helps optimize the scheduling of buses and trains, providing more efficient services to users. It is also used in smart travel applications that suggest the best and least congested routes. Another important aspect is the use of AI in predictive maintenance of transportation systems. By analyzing vehicle data, AI can predict potential failures before they occur, reducing costs and improving service reliability. Despite these significant advantages, there are still challenges facing the implementation of AI in transportation, such as high costs, the need for advanced infrastructure, and concerns related to privacy and cybersecurity.
