Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, the College of Agricultural Technologies organized a distinguished event on the occasion of International Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The event was attended by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, and the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Mahdi Abdul-Kadhim Abed, alongside an elite group of professors and students.
This year, the event took on a field-applied character, reflecting the college's focus on consolidating environmental sustainability concepts through practical practice rather than relying solely on theoretical awareness. The program included a series of scientific and field activities, featuring a visit to the natural plant reserve, reviewing the greenhouse agriculture project, and conducting hydroponic farming experiments. Additionally, students participated in planting seedlings across the university campus.
The college also paid special attention to promoting the concept of green transportation by encouraging the use of bicycles and scooters. This step aims to reduce the carbon footprint and spread a culture of sustainable commuting among students.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Agricultural Technologies, Professor Dr. Mahdi Abdul-Kadhim Abed, pointed out that the college continues to adopt and implement applied projects that contribute to achieving a sustainable university environment. He emphasized that these initiatives enhance students' roles in protecting the environment through modern agricultural practices and eco-friendly technologies.
Through this event, the College of Agricultural Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through educational programs and applied initiatives that prepare qualified cadres capable of facing environmental challenges and building a more sustainable future.
