the Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science / Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific field trip to the Blood Bank in Babil Province. The visit took place on Monday, 19/4/2026, under the supervision of the Head of the Department and accompanied by Assistant Lecturer Abbas Hamza Khudhair. The visit aimed to familiarize students with the scientific and practical procedures adopted in blood transfusion centers. Students were directly introduced to blood donation procedures and the essential laboratory tests required prior to donation to ensure the safety of both donors and recipients. In addition, methods of blood group determination according to approved systems were explained, along with modern techniques used to detect blood-borne viruses and the standard procedures followed to ensure the quality and safety of blood units. The visit also included a tour of laboratory equipment and technical tools used in analysis and testing, with detailed explanations of their working principles and their role in achieving accurate results. This scientific trip comes as part of the department’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the goal related to good health and well-being, by preparing qualified scientific personnel equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to serve the community.
