Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and with the follow-up of Assistant Professor Dr. Hamza Mohammed رضا Yahya Al-Khafaji, Head of Graduate Studies, the joint Master’s program in Electronics Systems Design Engineering between Al-Mustaqbal University and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) witnessed a specialized academic defense in the fields of smart energy and artificial intelligence. This initiative forms part of an academic track aimed at strengthening the presence of Iraqi postgraduate students within global research environments. The Master’s thesis of student Ahmed Saadoun Shaker Al-Jankani was discussed under the program: MSc ESDE Intake October 2024 – Offshore Al-Mustaqbal University, Iraq The defense was held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. (Iraq time) and 2:30 p.m. (Malaysia time), at the campus of Al-Mustaqbal University. The thesis was entitled: “Optimization of Power Flow in Distributed Generation Systems Using Reinforcement Learning-Based Intelligent Control” The study presented an advanced scientific approach to one of the most pressing challenges in the modern energy sector—namely, the management of power flow in distributed generation systems—through the application of reinforcement learning techniques, a key branch of artificial intelligence capable of supporting intelligent control decisions within smart electrical grids. The significance of the research lies in its direct relevance to the future of sustainable energy. Distributed generation systems have become a fundamental component of the global transition toward more resilient and efficient power networks, particularly with the increasing integration of renewable energy sources. The research aims to develop an intelligent model that enhances operational efficiency, minimizes power losses, and improves the stability of electrical systems within dynamic and complex operating environments. The examination committee comprised a distinguished panel of experts: Supervisor (Iraq): Prof. Dr. Oday Ali Ahmed Supervisor (USM): Dr. Muhammad Najwan Hamidi First Examiner (USM): AP. Ir. Dr. Teoh Soo Siang Second Examiner (Al-Mustaqbal University): Prof. Dr. Bayan Mahdi Sabbar Chair of the Committee: Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohamad Kamarol Mohd Jamil This defense reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic direction toward establishing internationally oriented postgraduate programs that extend beyond conventional academic frameworks, focusing instead on producing applied research aligned with future challenges in energy, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, and intelligent control systems. Furthermore, the partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) underscores the University’s commitment to expanding its global presence in higher education by enabling Master’s students to engage in rigorous research experiences, interact with multidisciplinary academic committees, and explore research topics that keep pace with global advancements. Through this academic endeavor, Al-Mustaqbal University continues to strengthen its position as an Iraqi institution advancing confidently toward internationalization by supporting applied scientific research, enhancing the capabilities of postgraduate students, and fostering global partnerships that contribute to preparing researchers capable of delivering intelligent and sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges in energy and technology. #Ranked_first_among_private_universities_in_Iraq #Goal_17_Partnerships_for_the_Goals
