Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, Al-Mustaqbal University organized a comprehensive scientific celebration on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, reflecting its firm commitment to fostering a culture of creativity and protecting innovation within the academic environment. The event commenced with a speech delivered on behalf of the University Presidency by Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, who emphasized that this global occasion represents a strategic platform for celebrating creativity as a fundamental pillar in building a sustainable knowledge economy. He stressed that intellectual property protection is no longer optional but a necessity for enhancing innovation and entrepreneurship, supporting creative minds, and transforming their outputs into practical projects with developmental impact. The celebration featured a scientific workshop and a specialized seminar titled “Iraqi Patents: Figures and Indicators,” presented by Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of the Department of Cultural Relations. The session included a scientific analysis of innovation indicators in Iraq, highlighting the current state of patents and opportunities for their development. It also addressed advanced topics such as mechanisms for protecting innovations, patent registration processes, copyright and trademarks, as well as strategies for investing ideas and transforming them into productive projects that support sustainable development. On the sidelines of the event, a distinguished exhibition was inaugurated, showcasing a number of patents by the university’s researchers, alongside a collection of outstanding student-led innovative projects in the field of artificial intelligence. These exhibits reflected the level of scientific progress and creative capabilities fostered by Al-Mustaqbal University, reaffirming its leading role in supporting innovation and translating knowledge into impactful practical applications. The scientific discussions further highlighted the importance of empowering researchers and inventors, and strengthening partnerships between academic institutions and productive sectors to transform knowledge into real economic value, in alignment with the university’s vision of promoting scientific excellence and innovation.
