Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in a Ramadan Evening on Issues of Persons with Disabilities in Baghdad

In response to the kind invitation from the Iraqi Association of Persons with Disabilities, the delegate of Al-Mustaqbal University, Mr. Sajjad Razzaq Al-Hilali, an employee of the Disability and Special Needs Unit, participated in the Ramadan evening held in Baghdad. The event included a dialogue session addressing issues related to persons with disabilities and exploring effective mechanisms for their empowerment and inclusion in society. The session witnessed broad participation from representatives of governmental and international bodies, including the World Health Organization, representatives from the Australian side, and community police, as well as delegates from various ministries and institutions. Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirmed its continued commitment to supporting the rights of persons with disabilities and promoting a culture of inclusion and equality, emphasizing its belief that education is a right for all and that disability does not mean inability but rather represents potential that requires support and empowerment.

Al-Mustaqbal University continues to empower students with special needs within an inclusive educational environment

Grounded in the University of Al-Mustaqbal’s orientation toward consolidating an inclusive educational environment that guarantees the right to education for all, the university continues its efforts to support students with special needs by providing the necessary requirements that facilitate their mobility and enhance their active participation. This, in turn, contributes to promoting equality and equal opportunities on the university campus. The university is also keen on fostering awareness across the campus regarding the importance of supporting students with special needs while reinforcing a culture of an inclusive educational environment based on cooperation and mutual respect. For his part, Dr. Ahmed Hassan Shaker, Director of the Student Activities Department, emphasized that the university is continuously working on developing its infrastructure and providing the means that ensure ease of movement and access, enabling students with disabilities to fully participate in university life, both inside lecture halls and in student activities.

Al-Mustaqbal University participates in a seminar on interacting with persons with disabilities

The Student Activities Department – Special Needs Unit at Al-Mustaqbal University participated in an awareness seminar organized by the Middle Euphrates Oil Products Distribution Authority, in collaboration with the university and the Noor Al-Imam Al-Sajjad Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, under the title "How to Deal with Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs.” The seminar aimed to raise awareness of effective approaches to interacting with persons with disabilities and supporting their needs. Mr. Sajjad Razzaq Al-Hilali, an employee at the university's Special Needs Unit, delivered a lecture highlighting the importance of providing an inclusive environment while presenting Al-Mustaqbal University’s experience in supporting students with disabilities and facilitating their integration. In turn, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Hassan Shaker Majdi, Director of the Student Activities Department, emphasized the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and government entities in organizing such activities, given their role in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. Al-Mustaqbal University continues its volunteer initiatives to create a supportive campus environment for students with disabilities

As part of its ongoing efforts to support students with disabilities and special needs, Al-Mustaqbal University’s Special Needs Unit within the Central Student Activities Department carried out voluntary initiatives that included the preparation and maintenance of ramps and designated pathways, aiming to facilitate student mobility and promote an inclusive campus environment. These initiatives reflect the university’s commitment to supporting this important group of students and its continuous efforts to provide an enabling environment within the campus, ensuring their effective inclusion in academic and student activities. The Central Student Activities Department emphasized that these efforts demonstrate the university’s dedication to fostering a culture of volunteerism and reinforcing the principle of equal opportunities for all students.

Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes Voluntary Visit to Al-Amal Institute for Individuals with Hearing and Speech Impairments

The Central Student Activities Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a voluntary activity in the form of a visit to Al-Amal Institute for the Deaf and Speech Impaired, as part of the university’s efforts to promote humanitarian and voluntary work and serve the community. The visit included the distribution of gifts to the institute’s students, reflecting Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities and special needs, as well as its dedication to empowering and integrating them into society. Through this initiative, the university emphasized the importance of enhancing social communication for this group, encouraging their inclusion and enabling them to lead a normal life, thereby reinforcing the values of inclusivity and human solidarity within the community.

Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes Awareness Event on International White Cane Day

Al-Mustaqbal University’s Central Student Activities Department organized an awareness activity on the occasion of International White Cane Day, a symbol of independence and freedom for the blind and visually impaired. The activity included the distribution of awareness brochures to university students, aiming to enhance understanding of the importance of the white cane and its role in empowering this group and supporting their independence within society.

Al-Mustaqbal University Participates in a Panel Discussion on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

At the invitation of the Iraqi Association of Persons with Disabilities and under the patronage of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Al-Mustaqbal University participated in a panel discussion titled “Comprehensive Justice: Promoting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to Access Compensation under Law No. 20," held in the capital, Baghdad. The university was represented at the session by Mr. Sajad Razzaq Al-Hilali, in the presence of a distinguished group of officials, decision-makers, and members of the Iraqi Association of Persons with Disabilities. The discussion addressed several issues related to the public life of persons with disabilities and the means of ensuring a dignified life for them, including Law No. (38) on the rights of persons with disabilities, as well as issues concerning victims of terrorism and mechanisms to support them. Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its strong commitment to this segment of society by providing the best services and support, in addition to its attention to the families of martyrs and victims of terrorism. It also seeks to promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities in various cultural, social, and sports activities implemented by the Department of Student Activities.

The event addressed the importance of creating a supportive environment for persons with disabilities and enhancing their integration into society, as well as the role of institutions in empowering them and promoting their rights. The university representative highlighted the achievements of Al-Mustaqbal University in this field and commended the university presidency’s commitment to providing a suitable and supportive environment. The Department of Student Activities also emphasized the university’s direction towards developing programs and units dedicated to persons with disabilities, aiming to enhance their participation in various activities.
