Administrative Divisions Career Development division
As part of its commitment to enhancing the alignment between higher education outcomes and labor market needs, career development division at Al-Mustaqbal University participated in an interactive virtual workshop organized by the World Bank via Zoom, titled: "Why Is Graduate Tracing Important? And What Are the Global Best Practices?" The session featured distinguished contributions from international education policy experts, including: Romina Miorelli – an international expert in graduate tracking and education policy. Cornelia Jesse – a representative of the French Ministry of Higher Education, specializing in bridging higher education with European labor market demands. The workshop focused on analyzing the three main models of graduate tracking systems — administrative, survey-based, and hybrid — examining the advantages and challenges of each, particularly in changing economic contexts. The French model was highlighted as a leading international example for managing and analyzing graduate data by field of study, institution, and academic level. Participants discussed the strategic use of graduate data in shaping academic policy, guiding students toward high-demand disciplines, and fostering data-driven improvements in graduate outcomes. The importance of involving all stakeholders — including students, alumni, and policymakers — was emphasized as key to building effective, sustainable tracking systems. At the conclusion of the workshop, the career development division at Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirmed its commitment to implementing these best practices through the development of a national digital graduate tracking platform, in collaboration with university faculties and relevant institutions. This initiative aims to improve the university’s graduate outcome performance and enhance alignment with both local and international labor market demands.

In modern academic institutions, the student is no longer a mere recipient of knowledge, but a key partner in shaping and developing the educational process. Therefore, listening to students’ voices and systematically evaluating their opinions is one of the most important tools for improving academic and administrative performance in universities. As the primary recipient of educational services, the student is well-positioned to provide valuable feedback that can guide decision-makers toward genuine development. The importance of surveying student opinions can be summarized in several key points: 1. Identifying Strengths and Weaknesses: Student feedback helps reveal both the effective aspects of academic and administrative systems and those that require improvement. 2. Enhancing Educational Quality: Understanding the student experience allows for the redesign of curricula, teaching methods, and support services. 3. Fostering a Sense of Belonging: Involving students in evaluation processes strengthens their sense of responsibility and connection to the institution. 4. Ensuring Fairness and Continuous Improvement: Student input provides essential data for strategic planning and institutional assessment. Accordingly, students must be encouraged to express their honest opinions by fostering an environment that promotes openness and transparency, through the following measures: 1. Complete Confidentiality: Universities must guarantee the anonymity of survey responses and refrain from tracking the identities of respondents. 2. A Supportive Institutional Culture: Promoting a culture of constructive criticism and respect for diverse opinions within the university. 3. Assurance of No Negative Consequences: Students should be made aware that their feedback will not affect their grades or personal evaluations. 4. Clarity of Purpose: Clearly explaining the objectives of the survey and how its results will be used to enhance performance. 5. Accessibility and Ease of Participation: Designing simple and user-friendly tools that allow for quick and clear engagement. In conclusion, activating the student voice in evaluating university performance is not only a developmental tool but also a legitimate right and a rich source of qualitative data. For this process to become a sustainable institutional culture, a comprehensive system must be built to design, analyze, and effectively utilize survey results. Only then can universities rise to meet their students’ aspirations and keep pace with the evolution of modern education.
As part of its strategic vision to empower students and graduates and enhance their integration into the labor market, the CDD at the University of Al-Mustaqbal participated in the specialized workshop entitled “Development of Business Incubators,” organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and hosted by the University of Baghdad – College of Physical Education on May 25–26, 2025. Officially inaugurated by His Excellency the Deputy Minister, Prof. Dr. Haider Abd Dahad, the workshop emphasized embedding innovation systems in Iraqi universities and directing youth potential toward entrepreneurship as a cornerstone of sustainable national development. The event featured distinguished academic and international participants and explored effective models for establishing university incubators, strategies for integrating technological and market infrastructures, and the importance of interdisciplinary leadership in advancing entrepreneurial initiatives. Drawing from leading Iranian university experiences, the workshop offered best practices in incubator management and innovation-based education. The University of Al-Mustaqbal’s active engagement through the CDD led to several key outcomes, including proposing the establishment of a dedicated business incubator equipped with co-working spaces and digital infrastructure, enhancing academic partnerships—particularly with Iranian institutions—launching a national network of university career centers, and integrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic planning into student training. This participation underscores the university’s commitment to its developmental mission through innovation, collaboration, and fostering a knowledge-based economy aligned with Iraq’s vision for a resilient and modern future.

Finally, we are obliged to note that the unique role played by the Division of Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-Up in the organization process shall stand out as a prime example of Integrated Institutional Work at the University, keeping in mind that the Division continuously supports Pioneering Initiatives that would enhance Awareness and Knowledge among Students and Graduates, strongly linking them to the Culture of Innovation as well as Job Market Requirements.
