AL_Mustaqbal University (UOMUS) has achieved a significant milestone in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) 2025, securing the 1676th position globally, marking a 639-rank improvement compared to last year. At the national level, AL_Mustaqbal University ranked first among private universities and colleges in Iraq and fourth overall, following Baghdad University, the University of Technology, and Salahaddin University. This remarkable achievement underscores the university’s excellence in academic and research performance. In a statement to the university’s media office, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of AL_Mustaqbal University, emphasized that this advancement reflects the institution’s commitment to enhancing scientific research, promoting international publications, and supporting faculty members and researchers. He highlighted that the URAP ranking is one of the world’s most influential university performance assessments, relying primarily on the quality and global impact of scientific research. It is worth noting that the URAP ranking evaluates universities based on several key criteria, including research quality, publication volume, citation impact, and international research collaboration. Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi also extended his congratulations to the university’s faculty, staff, and students, affirming the university’s dedication to continuous progress in global rankings. On Tuesday, March 11, 2025, the regular virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS) was held under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of Istanbul Aydın University and Chairman of EURAS. The meeting was attended by distinguished board members, including university presidents and representatives from member institutions, via a closed-circuit television system. Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the meeting, having been appointed as a board member during the Union’s annual conference in October 2024, held in Istanbul, Turkey. The meeting addressed several key topics, including prospects for collaboration among member universities, as well as discussions on specialized committees and platforms related to research, sustainability, partnerships, and international students. Additionally, the board reviewed the resolutions from the first meeting of the year, held in February, and praised Al-Mustaqbal University’s swift response in implementing these resolutions. The meeting also emphasized the importance of participating in the EURIE 25 Annual Summit, a flagship event for universities within the Union, scheduled to take place in Istanbul from April 9–10, 2025. During his remarks, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi expressed his appreciation to the Union’s leadership, highlighting Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to being an active member through its participation in EURAS initiatives. He affirmed the university’s dedication to launching impactful initiatives that align with the Union’s vision for internationalizing education among member states. As part of its ongoing efforts to establish partnerships with prestigious international universities and in alignment with the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s initiative to internationalize higher education, AL-Mustaqbal University held a virtual meeting with Mansoura University in Egypt to activate and expand scientific and academic collaboration. At the outset of the meeting, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of AL-Mustaqbal University, emphasized the significance of this discussion, which follows his recent visit to Mansoura University and the signing of a joint scientific cooperation protocol between the two institutions. He highlighted the meeting’s role in defining priorities and areas of mutual interest, particularly in scientific research, capacity building, curriculum development, and academic exchange, all of which contribute to strengthening the quality of educational outcomes. From Mansoura University, Professor Dr. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of the University, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing communication between the two institutions, whether through exchange visits or continuous meetings. He noted that this reflects the strong willingness and commitment of both sides to cooperate and reach agreements on various academic initiatives, while taking into account the available resources and the legal frameworks governing higher education in both countries. He further affirmed that Mansoura University is fully open to fostering collaboration and providing all necessary support to serve the interests of both universities. The meeting was attended by several senior officials from AL-Mustaqbal University, including Professor Dr. Mundhir Fadel Hassan, Administrative Assistant to the University President; Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; along with deans and department heads from the university administration. On the Mansoura University side, Professor Dr. Tarek Ghalwash was joined by vice presidents, deans, and directors of various academic centers and departments. The session concluded with an agreement to maintain direct communication between corresponding college deans from both universities to further discuss the agenda points raised during the meeting. These discussions will continue in subsequent meetings to finalize decisions and implement collaborative initiatives.
As part of a strategic initiative aimed at fostering and supporting technological and social innovations through partnerships with national institutions and, subsequently, with international organizations, AL-Mustaqbal University—under the leadership of its President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi—participated in the second meeting with the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC). This meeting was held in response to COSQC’s initiative, inviting both AL-Mustaqbal University and the University of Baghdad to form a national partnership to achieve common goals in this field. The collaboration focuses on the establishment of Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) at both AL-Mustaqbal University and the University of Baghdad. Additionally, AL-Mustaqbal University is actively engaging with COSQC in efforts to include Iraq in the Global Innovation Index (GII), with direct coordination and support from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), as COSQC represents Iraq in this global organization. Representing AL-Mustaqbal University at the meeting were Professor Dr. Mudhaffar Al-Zuhairy, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and Dr. Samir Badrawi, Director of International and Local Cultural Relations. From the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah, Assistant President for Academic Affairs, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Professor Dr. Fayadh Mohammed Abdul, President of COSQC. The meeting also included a distinguished group of COSQC specialists involved in key topics such as Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) and the Global Innovation Index (GII). This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the collaboration between higher education institutions and government bodies, contributing to Iraq’s transition into a new phase of development and progress.
AL-Mustaqbal University took part in a tripartite virtual meeting that brought together Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Future University; Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, President of Northern Technical University; and Professor Dr. Kenan Ahmet Turkudan, President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey. The meeting focused on the final preparations for the Second International Scientific Conference on Sustainable Development Technologies, which is being organized by Northern Technical University in partnership with Future University and will be hosted by Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in late April. Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University reaffirmed its full readiness to provide all necessary resources to ensure the success of this significant scientific event, emphasizing the importance of seamless coordination among the three universities. In this context, both Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi and Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University for its outstanding cooperation and strong commitment to making the conference a success. Furthermore, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi highlighted the importance of activating the memorandum of understanding previously signed between Future University and Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University. He also emphasized the need to strengthen academic partnerships among the three institutions. Additionally, he extended a formal invitation to both the President of Northern Technical University and the President of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University to attend and participate in the First International Conference on Sustainable Educational Technology, which AL-Mustaqbal University will host from April 16–17 as part of the third edition of the AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival, scheduled to take place on campus in mid-April. This scientific collaboration between the three universities represents a significant step toward enhancing academic research and knowledge exchange in the fields of sustainable development and modern technology, contributing to the advancement of higher education and the promotion of scientific innovation.
As part of its preparations for the third edition of the AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival, scheduled for mid-April 2025, AL-Mustaqbal University has been holding a series of meetings led by the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. These meetings were attended by the Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, as well as the deans of the Medical Group colleges, the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, the College of Sciences, and the College of Agricultural Technologies, along with their deputies, department heads, and faculty members involved in academic and scientific affairs. During the meetings, the attendees reviewed the ongoing preparations for the AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival, which will feature a range of scientific conferences, workshops, and forums. Some of these events have been previously approved by the university, while others are organized in partnership with local and international universities. Additionally, the festival will showcase student and faculty-led exhibitions and initiatives. In his remarks, the University President emphasized the importance of holding regular meetings for the preparatory, scientific, and supporting committees responsible for managing the festival’s activities. He stressed that scientific and cultural conferences and forums provide valuable opportunities for faculty members and researchers—both from within and outside the university—to exchange expertise, ideas, and insights, ultimately contributing to the enhancement and development of the university's academic performance. Future University was the only Iraqi university present at this distinguished academic event. The university delegation included: 1. Assoc. On the sidelines of the conference, the delegation visited several state-of-the-art laboratories and scientific departments at Abu Dhabi University to explore best practices and integrate them into AL_Mustaqbal University’s academic and research facilities.
