As part of AL-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to expand academic and research collaboration with reputable international institutions, and under the guidance of University President Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Sustainability and Energy Management at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University in Turkey. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the fields of energy, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability. The MoU was signed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies at AL-Mustaqbal University, and Ms. Leyla Akbulut, Head of the Department of Sustainability and Energy Management at the Turkish university. This strategic partnership is designed to support the development of educational and research initiatives that address pressing global challenges related to sustainable energy. The memorandum outlines several key areas of collaboration, including: • Developing a joint strategy for the exchange and admission of undergraduate and postgraduate students. • Conducting joint research projects in the fields of energy and renewable energy. • Exchanging scientific publications and research findings related to sustainable energy. • Organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops, both in-person and virtual. • Exploring opportunities for shared access to facilities and technologies in the energy domain. This agreement forms part of AL-Mustaqbal University’s broader strategy to enhance its academic and research programs in vital areas aligned with the goals of sustainable development and to build effective international partnerships with leading academic institutions. It is worth noting that the MoU was signed during the participation of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University’s delegation in the Third International Future Sustainability Week, held by AL-Mustaqbal University from April 16 to 24, 2025.
In line with the directives of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of AL-Mustaqbal University, and in harmony with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s strategy to strengthen academic collaboration among Iraqi universities, AL-Mustaqbal University received a high-level delegation from Al-Hadbaa University in Mosul. The visit aimed to foster academic and cultural cooperation between the two institutions. The delegation from Al-Hadbaa University was headed by Prof. Dr. Badi Ali Ahmed, President of the University, accompanied by Dr. Riyadh Abdullah Al-Taie, Vice President for Scientific Affairs; Dr. Fares Al-Abaychi, Dean of the College of Pharmacy; Dr. Hamid Jandari, Dean of the College of Nursing; and Mr. Ahmed Al-Shukrji, Director of Media. During the meeting—attended by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi and several senior university officials—the two sides engaged in extensive discussions on avenues for collaboration, including scientific research, exchange of expertise, curriculum development, joint supervision of graduate students, and sharing successful experiences in sustainable development. They also explored expanding academic and administrative training and development opportunities. In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi expressed his delight at the visit, affirming that academic partnerships among Iraqi universities are a strategic step toward enhancing higher education quality through knowledge exchange and the establishment of robust institutional networks. For his part, Prof. Dr. Badi Ali Ahmed voiced his pride in establishing this partnership, praising the notable advancements he observed at AL-Mustaqbal University in terms of academic performance, infrastructure, and the high caliber of faculty. He noted that AL-Mustaqbal University is now considered one of Iraq’s most prominent private universities and is earning recognition alongside public institutions. The visit culminated in the signing of a scientific and cultural Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities. The MoU outlines cooperation in scientific research, organization of academic conferences, student and faculty exchanges, and joint participation in innovation projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly in areas such as capacity building, curriculum modernization, and student summer training. The delegation also attended part of the Future Forum for Civil Society Organizations and the Private Sector, held as part of the 3rd International AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week 2025, where they were introduced to a range of initiatives and projects fostering synergy between academia, society, and the economy. The visit concluded with a field tour of AL-Mustaqbal University’s medical colleges, including the Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing, where the delegation observed the modern infrastructure, state-of-the-art laboratories, and immersive practical learning environments that the university offers its students. This visit reflects AL-Mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts to expand its academic network and promote knowledge integration across Iraqi universities, in alignment with national aspirations for high-quality, sustainable higher education.

The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting mutual scientific and cultural cooperation. This initiative aligns with the vision of AL-Mustaqbal University, led by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, to globalize the Iraqi academic experience. It also reflects the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s strategic direction to establish impactful partnerships that enhance the global standing of Iraqi universities. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi on behalf of AL-Mustaqbal University, and by Prof. Dr. Reza Ranjbar Karimi, President of Vali-e-Asr University, in the presence of deans and senior officials from both institutions. The agreement covers several key areas of collaboration, including joint scientific research projects, co-hosting of academic conferences and specialized workshops, and exchange visits for faculty and students, in addition to hosting visiting professors. The memorandum also opens pathways for collaboration in entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and capacity-building programs for academic and technical staff, as well as summer training programs for students. This agreement forms part of AL-Mustaqbal University’s broader strategy to enhance the higher education ecosystem through meaningful partnerships and to benefit from the successful experiences of regional universities—particularly Vali-e-Asr University’s achievements in promoting entrepreneurship and sustainable development practices. Notably, the visiting delegation also participated in the Second International Conference on Health Sciences and Technologies, held as part of the 3rd International AL-Mustaqbal Sustainability Week 2025, giving them an opportunity to witness firsthand the academic and technological capabilities that distinguish AL-Mustaqbal University.
As part of its continuous efforts toward global engagement, AL-Mustaqbal University took part in the 10th Annual Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE 2025), held in Istanbul from April 8 to 10, 2025. The university was represented by a high-level delegation led by Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, University President, along with Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Samir Ibrahim, Director of International Relations. The summit officially opened at Istanbul’s main conference hall, with wide participation from both governmental and academic sectors. The opening remarks were delivered by the Turkish Minister of Higher Education and the Minister of Economy, alongside prominent international figures, including representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan. Distinguished attendees also included the Executive Director of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the Director of the British Council, and presidents and representatives of academic institutions from around the world. AL-Mustaqbal University’s booth, featured as part of the academic exhibition held alongside the summit, attracted significant interest and engagement from academic delegations and visitors—particularly from Malaysian, Romanian, and Turkish universities. The exhibition was honored by official visits from the Turkish Minister of Economy, the Malaysian Minister of Education, and Professor Mustafa Aydin, President of Istanbul Aydın University, all of whom commended the university’s efforts in enhancing its academic programs and expanding its global presence. In a statement to the university’s media office, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi noted that the university’s delegation held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit with representatives of universities and academic institutions from several countries. These meetings aimed to explore opportunities for academic collaboration and to sign memoranda of understanding concerning student exchange programs, joint curriculum development, and the expansion of partnerships in scientific research and innovation. He further emphasized that the university’s participation aligns with its strategic vision to strengthen international academic relations and engage with advanced educational systems—reflecting its commitment to excellence and leadership both regionally and globally.

As part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to build partnerships with reputable international universities and in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to internationalize higher education in Iraq, a joint virtual meeting was held between Al-Mustaqbal University and Universidad Europea de Madrid to activate scientific and academic collaboration between the two institutions. The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and extending his gratitude and appreciation to the Spanish side and the staff of the Iraqi Embassy in Madrid for making the meeting possible. He also highlighted the importance of this meeting as the first of its kind between the two universities, which could serve as a promising start for building a long-term strategic partnership in scientific and academic fields of mutual interest. He pointed out that the areas of cooperation could include joint scientific research, organizing conferences and workshops, capacity building, and exchanging expertise in the field of sustainable development, as well as benefiting from the Spanish experience in implementing the Bologna Process, which has recently been adopted by Iraqi universities. For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, emphasized in his speech the many commonalities between the two universities, particularly regarding the available academic programs and their shared vision in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through adopting various innovative initiatives. He also highlighted the focus on scientific research and publishing in high-impact journals, in addition to other shared areas such as artificial intelligence and renewable energy. All these factors create a solid foundation for fruitful collaboration that serves the interests of both sides. Dr. Al-Zuhairy also noted that Al-Mustaqbal University has now become the leading private university in Iraq, based on its achievements in both national and international rankings, and its distinction as the first private university in Iraq to receive national institutional accreditation. The meeting included a presentation by Prof. Dr. Tareq Jawad, Director of Scientific Affairs, who showcased the university’s key performance indicators and academic statistics. A similar presentation was given by the Spanish side. It is worth mentioning that the Spanish side expressed its full readiness to open avenues of cooperation with Al-Mustaqbal University, and both sides agreed to designate contact points to determine the next steps for implementing the collaboration in accordance with the legal frameworks in both countries.

Through this membership, AL-Mustaqbal University’s academic staff will have access to exceptional opportunities to advance their careers, including participation in global research projects, publication in prestigious academic journals, and membership in international research award judging panels.
