Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division held a special event to bid farewell to Professor Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul-Jabbar, in recognition of her distinguished journey of dedication and outstanding work within the division. The event took place on 2/12/2025, where the division’s staff expressed words of gratitude and appreciation for her valuable efforts and the clear impact she left in strengthening the role of women within the university. During the event, a warm welcome was extended to Lecturer Mary Imran Mahdi as she assumed her duties as the new Head of the Women’s Affairs Division. Attendees wished her success in leading the division and continuing its path of development and achievement in alignment with the university’s plans and its vision supporting women’s empowerment. The event concluded in an atmosphere filled with appreciation, gratitude, and optimism for a new phase of constructive work within the division.
Awareness Campaign for Female Patients on the Harms of Drugs and Their Health Impact In implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Security, and Peace / Protection and Prevention Pillar for 2025, and within Paragraph Two regarding the importance of women’s health awareness and promoting behaviors aligned with a healthy lifestyle, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Division and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, organized an awareness campaign titled: “The Harms of Drugs: Health Awareness for Women”, targeting female patients at Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital. The campaign featured an interactive and educational awareness program, informing participants about the dangers of improper drug use and its effects on women’s general and reproductive health. It also provided practical guidance on the safe use of medications, methods for preventing drug misuse, and the importance of adhering to medical instructions to avoid health complications. The organizers emphasized the importance of raising women’s awareness about the risks of drug misuse, equipping them with the knowledge needed to protect their own health and the health of their families, and encouraging them to make informed and healthy decisions. This activity is part of the Biomedical Engineering Department’s ongoing efforts to enhance the role of women in the healthcare field and to promote health awareness among female patients in accordance with public health and safety standards. Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes a Seminar on Cyber Violence Against Women The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs representatives in the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics, and under the supervision of the Women’s Affairs Division, held an awareness seminar entitled “Cyber Violence and Digital Exploitation Against Women.” This event aligns with the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Protection and Prevention Pillar 2025, specifically Article Five concerning negative phenomena that women may face. The seminar covered the following topics: • Definition of cyber violence and its various forms • Digital exploitation and methods of prevention • Laws and legislation related to women’s rights • Guidelines to enhance digital security and protect privacy • Emphasis on fostering a safe university environment for women Participants praised the initiative and expressed their positive engagement, emphasizing the importance of continuing such awareness activities. In implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar for the year 2025, and within the second clause emphasizing the importance of choosing academic specialties suitable for women and aligned with labor market requirements, the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division and the Women’s Affairs Committee in the Biomedical Engineering Department, organized a field activity at Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital titled: “Safe Horizons: Training on Enhancing the Efficiency of Medical Materials Management and Oversight in Healthcare Facilities.” The activity included a specialized scientific tour during which the students were introduced to the methods used to monitor the movement of medical materials and supplies inside the hospital, mechanisms of storage organization, expenditure control, and handling of high-sensitivity equipment. The aim was to promote a culture of safety and ensure continuity of healthcare services without interruption. The training also addressed the role of the biomedical engineer in supporting healthcare management systems by understanding the needs of medical departments, analyzing operational data, and contributing to improving resource management efficiency and reducing waste. During the visit, emphasis was placed on the importance of women’s involvement in these technical specialties that combine engineering and administrative aspects, offering wide employment opportunities within healthcare institutions. This activity comes as part of the department’s efforts to enhance students’ skills and provide them with field experience that enables them to make informed career decisions and build capacities aligned with the demands of the modern healthcare labor market. Under the patronage of the esteemed President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, organized an awareness campaign titled “Violence Against Women” on 24/11/2025, in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The campaign aims to promote a culture that rejects all forms of violence, enhance awareness of the woman’s role in society, and highlight the importance of providing a safe environment that protects her rights and preserves her dignity. This initiative also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 5, which focuses on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The event was presented by Assistant Lecturer Dhi Salam Hamza, Ms. Rayahin Abdul-Nasser, and Assistant Lecturer Taybah Faisal Jabir, who discussed the various forms of violence, its psychological and social effects, as well as methods of prevention and mechanisms of community and institutional support. Through such activities, Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirms its commitment to continuing its humanitarian and awareness-raising role and to promoting a culture of women’s rights within and beyond the university community.
Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Agricultural Technologies and the Babylon Agriculture Directorate, organized an awareness campaign for rural women in the Abi Gharaq area titled: “Raising Rural Women’s Awareness on the Importance of Using Calcium and Phosphorus in Livestock Nutrition.” The campaign was held under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, and was presented by Lecturer Assistant Surur Hafidh Mohammed Al-Fatlawi, Head of the Unit, on Thursday, 20/11/2025. During the campaign, explanatory posters were distributed to highlight the importance of these nutrients within the second axis of “Economic Development for Iraqi Women,” which emphasizes the need to engage women in vital sectors that support community development. This axis was reinforced to showcase the essential role of rural women in empowering their communities by improving livestock health and increasing productivity. The campaign focused on the role of calcium and phosphorus in bone development, and increasing milk and meat production, in addition to explaining the ideal ratio (2:1) to prevent diseases such as rickets, osteoporosis, and reduced fertility. Practical recommendations were also provided to rural women on incorporating natural sources such as limestone and dried eggshells as sources of calcium, and wheat bran or phosphate supplements as sources of phosphorus, emphasizing the importance of regular monitoring of livestock health. The campaign also aimed to empower rural women as key partners in sustainable development, as their awareness and proper management of livestock nutrition represent a direct investment in herd health and increased production, positively impacting the rural family and the local economy.
As part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week 2025, and in compliance with the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Pillar (Protection and Prevention) 2025, specifically the fifth axis concerning negative phenomena that women may face, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs representatives in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Oil Industries, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sahira Qahtan Abdul Jabbar, Head of the Division, carried out an extensive awareness campaign on the risks of addiction on women. The campaign relied on the distribution of educational brochures in Hammurabi City. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among women about the health, behavioral, and social impacts of addiction, and to highlight the role of educational institutions in promoting a culture of prevention and support for women, thereby fostering a safe, risk-free university environment. The awareness brochures included specialized topics such as: • The concept of addiction and its most common types among women and youth. • Chemical and behavioral effects of drug abuse on women. • Early prevention strategies. • The role of women in strengthening community awareness and reducing risks. • Emergency numbers and psychological and counseling support services dedicated to women. Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division organized an awareness exhibition on 19/11/2025 as part of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week activities, titled: “Moments of Awareness… For a Drug-Free Generation.” The exhibition witnessed the attendance of several faculty members and students. It included a collection of brochures and educational posters highlighting the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on individuals and society. It also featured awareness presentations aimed at promoting a culture of prevention and encouraging students to adopt a healthy lifestyle free from harmful behaviors. This activity comes within Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to spreading community awareness and supporting national efforts to curb the spread of drugs, reinforcing the role of educational institutions in protecting and guiding young people intellectually and behaviorally
