An awareness and guidance campaign entitled “Enhancing Women’s Mental Health and Building a Supportive and Safe University Environment.”

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, in cooperation with the College of Engineering / Department of Biomedical Engineering, carried out an awareness and guidance campaign entitled “Enhancing Women’s Mental Health and Building a Supportive and Safe University Environment” on 20/1/2026. This campaign was conducted in line with the provisions of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar for the year 2025, particularly Paragraph Two, which emphasizes the importance of health awareness for women and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. The campaign aimed to raise awareness of the importance of mental health as a fundamental pillar of women’s well-being and the quality of their academic and social life, highlighting the impact of academic and social pressures on psychological balance and the necessity of adopting positive practices that contribute to the prevention of anxiety, stress, and psychological exhaustion. The activity included a guidance lecture that addressed the concept of mental health and its importance, outlining the most prominent psychological challenges that women may face in the university environment and healthy ways to deal with them. It also discussed the importance of psychological and social support and its role in enhancing self-confidence and the ability to adapt positively. The campaign further focused on providing practical guidelines to help women care for their mental health, such as stress management, time organization, and promoting positive communication, while emphasizing the importance of providing a university environment that considers psychological aspects and supports women’s well-being. This activity comes within the efforts of the College of Engineering to enhance awareness of women’s mental health, in alignment with the objectives of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security for the year 2025, contributing to women’s empowerment and the building of a balanced and healthy university community. A campaign involving the distribution of brochures entitled “Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Its Impact on Fertility.”

Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Department of Anesthesia, organized an awareness campaign through the distribution of brochures entitled “Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Its Impact on Fertility” on 10/1/2026, in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being). The campaign was conducted within the framework of implementing the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security / Prevention and Protection Pillar – Paragraph Three. The campaign addressed Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) as a common condition affecting women of reproductive age due to hormonal imbalance that impacts the ovulation process. It highlighted the most common symptoms and the associated risks, including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, fertility problems, and an increased risk of endometrial cancer, in addition to clarifying methods of prevention and treatment. A Scientific Field Trip to the Hilla Textile Factory in Support of Enhancing Women’s Presence in Engineering and Industrial Specializations

Under the patronage of the Honorable President of Al-Mustaqbal University, The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries, organized a scientific field trip for second-year students to the Hilla Textile Factory, with active participation by female students, in support of enhancing women’s presence in engineering and industrial disciplines. This activity was carried out in implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, under the Pillar of Participation and Institutional Reform, and within the fifth clause concerning providing a suitable work environment that achieves standards of gender equality. The visit emphasized the importance of integrating women into applied field experiences and providing them with the opportunity to directly observe production lines, operating systems, and management mechanisms within industrial facilities, in line with the national plan’s orientation toward strengthening women’s participation and enhancing their efficiency in the industrial sector. During the visit, the students—female students in particular—were introduced to the stages of production, the machinery used in textile manufacturing, and the mechanisms for applying quality standards. The factory staff also delivered a comprehensive explanation of industrial processes, which contributed to linking theoretical knowledge with practical application and highlighting the role of textile factories in supporting the national economy. This field trip comes as part of the department’s efforts to support applied scientific activities and encourage students to explore real working environments, while emphasizing the role of women as essential partners in development, institutional reform, and the achievement of sustainable development. Awareness Campaign titled: “Together to End Violence Against Women”

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the College of Health and Medical Technologies – Department of Prosthetics Techniques, is organizing an awareness campaign titled “Together to End Violence Against Women” on 26/11/2025, as part of the Prevention and Protection pillar. The campaign was carried out through the design and preparation of an awareness brochure titled “Together to End Violence Against Women,” created by Ms. Tabarak Ahmed Turki. The activity aimed to raise community awareness about the dangers of violence against women and to highlight methods of legal and social prevention and protection. The brochure included several key themes, most notably: • Introducing the various forms of violence that women may face in society. • Clarifying women’s legal and social rights and the available protection mechanisms. • Promoting the values of equality and respect within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 5 related to gender equality. • Contributing to the creation of a safe educational environment that supports the principles of justice and peace. This activity comes as part of the Women’s Affairs Division’s commitment to supporting and empowering university women and promoting a culture of non-violence, ensuring a healthy and safe educational and community environment for all female students.

A field activity titled “Safe Horizons: Training to Improve the Efficiency of Medical Materials Management and Monitoring within Healthcare Facilities.”

In implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security / Protection and Prevention Pillar for 2025, and within the second paragraph concerning the importance of choosing academic specializations suitable for women and aligning them with labor market needs, the Women’s Affairs Unit in the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division and the Women’s Committee in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries, organized a field training activity at Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital titled: “Future Pathways: Field Training in Chemical Risk Management in Hospitals.” The activity included a specialized scientific tour during which the supervisors of the activity, Asst. Lect. Abrar Falah Asst. Lect. Zaid Ghaith Ms. Raghda Safaa, provided a detailed explanation to the female students on mechanisms of chemical risk management within the healthcare environment, including the proper handling of chemicals used in medical laboratories, safe storage methods, sterilization systems, and procedures for controlling emissions and pollutants inside health units. The training also focused on clarifying the role of chemical engineering in enhancing occupational safety within hospitals through material risk assessment, modeling scenarios of chemical leaks or reactions, and developing emergency response plans—an aspect that highlights the important position of chemical engineers within healthcare institutions. During the visit, emphasis was placed on the importance of women choosing engineering specializations that align with labor market needs, especially those experiencing functional expansion in the health and industrial sectors, such as chemical process engineering, water treatment, medical gases, and risk management. The workshop indicated that gaining practical skills in this field provides female students with a genuine competitive advantage in modern work environments. This activity comes as part of the efforts of the Women’s Affairs Committee to promote technical awareness and provide students with real-world experiences that enhance their ability to make informed future career decisions and qualify them for active integration into the labor market.
