The Fourth Media Dialogue Forum, held as part of the Third International Week of Sustainability at Al-Mustaqbal University, received wide media coverage and attention from various news agencies and media platforms due to the significance of the topics addressed and the distinguished participants. Organized under the theme: "Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in Media: A Partnership for Smart Media Creation", the forum witnessed the participation of prominent media figures and academics from Iraq and abroad, in addition to media professors from public and private universities and research centers. The event was marked by the presence of high-level officials, including the Administrative Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, the President of the Union of Iraqi Writers and Authors, the President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, and the Director of the Union Center for Media Training. The event was also attended by the Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for AI Applications and the center’s team, as part of the center’s engagement in scientific and media events related to artificial intelligence technologies. A total of 31 research papers were presented and discussed across three academic sessions, covering nine main themes, including: AI in media content creation, newsroom applications, visual rhetoric, media research methodology, and the psychology of artificial intelligence. On the fifth day of the 3rd International Future Week for Sustainability 2025, Al-Mustaqbal University hosted a distinguished panel discussion titled: "Cities Between People and Identity – Towards Sustainable Urban Planning", gathering a select group of academics and experts in architecture and urban planning. The session, moderated by Umayma Kazem Al-Tai, an expert in sustainable urban design, focused on the concept of "Humanizing Cities", which connects urban spaces to human dignity and emphasizes the importance of urban planning based on human needs and cultural identity. The session was opened with an insightful presentation by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Ali Rashid, an expert in sustainable architecture and Iraq’s representative at Green Metrics, who advocated for linking urban design with daily life details. He stressed that "cities should be built for people, not at their expense," emphasizing the need for balanced urban planning that respects both human dignity and the environment. Meanwhile, Dr. Venus Suleiman Akef, an architect and recipient of the Tamayouz Excellence Award, discussed how to transform cultural identity and architectural heritage into foundations for future cities. She shared her international experiences, particularly her participation in global forums like the UN General Assembly, where she advocated for enhancing the interaction between society and urban spaces. Dr. Samaan Majid B. Yass, Head of the Department of Architecture at University of Diyala, presented a comprehensive view on the role of sustainable tourism in reviving historic centers, describing it as an effective tool for connecting people to the memory of place through sensory experiences and direct engagement with the architectural environment. The session was marked by diverse perspectives and deep discussions, providing a platform for rethinking the relationship between people and their cities, ensuring a balance between urban development and the preservation of cultural and environmental identity. The 5th edition of the Babylon International Animation Film Festival officially launched today at Al-Mustaqbal University, in a vibrant opening ceremony attended by notable Arab and international guests. The festival is held under the patronage of Al-Mustaqbal University, the French Embassy, the French Cultural Institute in Baghdad, and the Iraqi Artists Syndicate. The opening ceremony commenced with a speech by Dr. Abbas Al-Bawei, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, who welcomed the attendees and highlighted the festival’s role in fostering cultural dialogue through the universal language of imagery and imagination. Mr. Samuel Mim, representative of the French Embassy, also delivered a speech, expressing France’s support for cultural and artistic events that enhance international cooperation and open new horizons for cultural exchange. Dr. Amer Sabah Al-Marzouk, the Festival Director, emphasized in his remarks that the festival has become an annual celebration of the creativity of animation artists from around the world. As part of its ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability, Al-Mustaqbal University has successfully produced Oyster Mushrooms, one of the most valuable and widely consumed edible fungi worldwide, second only to white and brown mushrooms. Oyster Mushrooms are renowned for their high nutritional value, serving as a rich source of vitamins and minerals. They also contain the rare antioxidant "Ergothioneine," which plays a crucial role in boosting the immune system and combating oxidative stress, offering significant health benefits. This achievement is part of the university’s broader initiatives to promote sustainable organic farming, which have also yielded high-quality crops such as yellow watermelon, climbing melon, and other plant varieties that support biodiversity and enhance food security in Iraq, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2, 12, 15). In parallel, Al-Mustaqbal Center for Artificial Intelligence Applications at Al-Mustaqbal University is actively studying smart agriculture technologies. The event began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Muzhfer Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, representing the university administration. During his speech, he announced the launch of "The Intellectual Property Policy Document of Al-Mustaqbal University," a pioneering step to foster an innovative environment and protect the rights of students, researchers, and faculty members. The event featured a documentary film showcasing the university's achievements, followed by a detailed presentation of the policy document by Dr. Samir Ibrahim Badrawi. The children and their teachers were warmly welcomed upon their arrival, where a simplified explanation was provided about the significant role artificial intelligence plays in human life, as well as the importance of sustainable energy for the future. The visit also included a tour of the Future Center's technology incubator, where the children learned about the smart innovations and projects being developed.
