On Saturday, April 4, 2026, the 5th Annual Al-Mustaqbal University Book Fair was inaugurated in a vibrant cultural atmosphere and with wide academic attendance from faculty members and students, reaffirming its status as one of the most prominent cultural events among Iraqi universities in promoting reading culture and building an informed knowledge-based generation. The exhibition was held under the generous patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, under the slogan: “Our Book, Our Future,” with broad participation from local and international publishing houses as well as cultural figures and intellectuals. This event represents the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), by enhancing reading culture, spreading knowledge, and supporting the educational environment within the academic community. The opening ceremony began with a speech delivered on behalf of the university presidency by Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, who emphasized the importance of the fair as a knowledge platform that supports scientific awareness and strengthens students’ connection with books. The fair features the participation of 25 publishing houses from various countries around the world, offering a diverse range of scientific and literary publications. The accompanying cultural program includes meetings with writers, poets, and intellectuals, in addition to theatrical performances and artistic activities. It also includes the distribution of free book vouchers to encourage students to read and engage with knowledge. The event is scheduled to continue for one full week, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the latest publications and participate in various cultural activities. This event aligns with the vision of Al-Mustaqbal University aimed at building an integrated academic and cultural environment that contributes to preparing an aware and educated generation capable of keeping pace with knowledge development and shaping the future. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first among private universities in Iraq.
