Internet of Things

What is the Internet of Things (IoT)?
The term Internet of Things refers to all devices - whatever their type - that can be connected to the Internet and send and receive information without the intervention of the human factor, this matter has become available on any device due to the industry of processors and booming wireless communication networks, adding a processor and a wireless communication chip is no longer an obstacle and will not be exploited several centimeters in any device whatsoever.
The ability to connect devices to the Internet and exchange data adds a touch of intelligence to any traditional device to increase its tasks and intelligence without changing the concept for which it was designed, and this enhances the connection between the digital world and the real world more easily than it is now.

What are IoT applications?
If we start listing IoT applications, it may take days to cover them, as IoT has become an essential part of all devices in general, it may not be widespread in our Arab world due to the lack of awareness of the usefulness of these improved devices or their high cost compared to their traditional counterpart, but its spread to be part of everything around us is only a matter of time, no more, In the following lines, we will list you some simple examples of IoT applications, knowing that they are limited applications.

Smart Home Appliances
I am not talking here about home appliances that come with touch screens, some of which contain a dedicated operating system or even an Android system, but I am talking about the simplest examples that you can imagine, for example, the home lamp has become one of the most Internet of Things applications, without any change in its shape, it is now only possible through its Internet connection to control the lighting of the rooms of the house one by one by turning it on, Closing them, changing the intensity of the luminance or even the color of the light, all this only through a microprocessor and an Internet connection chip.
Household lamps are not alone, for example, Google had announced during the previous CES 2019 conference the e-ink Display, which is the best evidence of the extent to which the Internet of Things transforms everything that is simple to smart devices. The screen, as it appears in front of you in the picture, is a very simple and primitive screen at a low price, but thanks to the Internet of Things, it can be linked to the Google Personal Assistant to be able to display the date, time, weather and traffic without the need to own a smart device only a screen whose price does not exceed several dollars.
Medicine and the role of the Internet of Things in its development
With medical devices including the concept of the Internet of Things, the world will change completely, to make it clear to you that it is enough to tell you that a Chinese doctor was able to perform a successful complete surgery on a patient in a different province from his place of residence by connecting to a complete surgical system based on the Internet of Things and with the help of 5G Internet speeds.
Surgeries are not the only application of the Internet of Things, as there are many researches that work to provide chips and devices that collect information about patients and link them to integrated health systems (the last Apple smartwatch is a first model of what we can see later), that is, the sudden rise in blood pressure, clots, fainting and its causes and everything that may happen urgently will not be subject to research and examination by doctors, as access to cloud services that contain your health data may explain everything in a few seconds.
Smart IoT cars
Unlike smart cars today, which rely on self-driving systems, the concept of the Internet of Things provides the middle ground between them and traditional cars, with the ability of traditional cars to connect to the Internet only, their owners will be able to locate them, track their movement and know the status of their own parts, which will provide car manufacturers with a huge database on the condition of their cars since their first day and also provides it easily to the authorities responsible for the traffic situation in their city.

Through past examples, we can find out what the Internet can offer.
