Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineering Department Promotes a Refrigeration Entity Operated by a Hybrid Solar System

2021-06-26

The academic at the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineering Department, Ms. Hawraa Tayih Qati’ designs and develops a refrigeration system operated by solar energy. The main objective of this study is to improve the efficiency of the refrigeration system and reduce the consumption of energy through the process heating the gas while leaving the compressor and getting into the superheated condenser, and thus improving the thermal performance of the entity. The results obtained clarify that the new system reduces consumption of electricity by 10-15 percent, increasing at the same time its efficiency by 20-25 percent if compared to regular systems. Assist. Prof. Dr. Azher M. Abed, Head of the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineering Department has indicated that the trends and plans of the College as well as the Department mainly aim to support sustainable energy projects that are mainly concerned with the reduction of electricity consumption, utilizing energy for the purposes of sustainable and industrial development, eradicating air pollution and confronting climate changes. Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College has appreciated the efforts of Department and Ms. Hawraa for their scientific achievements. Such amazing success indeed shall raise the level of qualitative scientific research at the College as well as the Department.
