The oceans - through their temperature, chemical composition, water currents, and the biological richness they contain - are one of the most important components of the natural systems that make the Earth habitable for humanity. Then, how to manage this vital and important resource is essential to the survival of all humankind, and to offsetting the effects of climate change.
