It is remarkable to note that “environment preservation” is one of the essential objectives that Al-Mustaqbal University College endeavors to achieve through the application of many strategies and plans, which reinforce Sustainable Development Goals.
One of these vital strategies is to reduce gas emissions through the use of gases that are cordial to environment in the various devices of transportation as well as in the air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
For the purpose to identify the most important methods with the gases that are used, and in response to the College’s orientations to promote the “Sustainable Development Goals”, the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineering Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil / Oil Products Company-Babylon Branch, organized on Saturday 10th of July 2021, at 10:00 a.m. inside the College Campus an applied workshop entitled

“Use of Liquid Petroleum Gas as Car Fuel to Prevent Air-Pollution”
The lectures of the workshop were given by
1. Dr. Ali Hamza Alwan
2. Thul-Fiqar Ali Abbas
3. Usama Karim Al-Janabi
The workshop mainly aimed to investigate the main unique features of LPG with the possibility to use it as an alternative to the current fuel so as to reduce gas emissions. The workshop, accordingly, concentrated on what we may consider as the most important benefits that can be achieved of using LPG. These benefits are:
 Cordial to environment as it reduces greenhouse gas emissions
 National Product
 The price per liter is 200 Iraqi Dinars
 Use of LPG extends the life of engine and oil, and thus achieving sustainability
 Use of LPG reduces the phenomenon of slapping and knocking in the engine, and therefore affecting its age and performance.
 The octane number of LPG exceeds 112, whereas the octane number of gasoline ranges between 83 & 92.
The lecturers with the participants discussed the recommendations related to using LPG as car fuel for local transportation and the necessity to spread the culture of environment preservation, encouraging everybody, including the government institutions, to contribute in reducing the emission of harmful gases.
Prof. Hassan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College thanked the lecturers as well as the participants, appreciating their outstanding efforts in submitting such applied and scientific information that can be utilized in supporting sustainable development and protecting environment.
