Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, announced that the university has secured the first place among Iraqi universities in the renowned US News & World Report Global Ranking for the year 2025, marking a new academic milestone in the university’s ongoing record of excellence and progress.

The ranking results revealed that seven Iraqi universities made it into this year’s list, which included 1,164 universities worldwide. Al-Mustaqbal University ranked first in Iraq, across both public and private universities. It was followed by University of Sulaymaniyah in second place, while University of Baghdad came third. The rest of the ranking included University of Technology, Cihan University - Erbil, University of Babylon, and University of Basrah, ranked fourth through seventh respectively.

At the Asian level, Al-Mustaqbal University ranked 396th, and in the subject-specific rankings:
• 751st in Chemistry
• 771st in Engineering

The US News & World Report – Best Global Universities Ranking relies on a set of rigorous indicators that evaluate academic and research performance. It is based on data automatically collected from the global Clarivate Analytics database.

Key indicators include:
• Global and regional research reputation
• Number and impact of published research
• Volume of international collaboration
• Scientific citation quality and quantity
• Excellence in academic disciplines

Al-Mustaqbal University demonstrated clear distinction in several academic programs, particularly Engineering and Chemical Sciences, excelling in publication metrics, global impact, and innovation. This reflects the university’s continued investment in developing research infrastructure and fostering a creative academic environment.
In a statement to the university’s media, President Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi congratulated all faculty, staff, and students on this major achievement, praising their vital role in raising the university’s profile internationally.
