This morning, Al-Mustaqbal University hosted the national conference dedicated to the Digital Transformation and Automation Project within the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its affiliated institutions. The conference was held under the generous patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and witnessed broad participation from presidents of public and private universities, vice presidents, deans, academics, and students.

His Excellency the Minister was represented at the conference by Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahad, the Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, who delivered the opening speech. In his remarks, he emphasized that digital transformation has become a national and strategic necessity to keep pace with global developments in education, administration, and technology. He noted that this promising project will contribute to improving institutional, administrative, academic, and student performance, simplifying procedures, saving time and effort, and enhancing transparency and the quality of services.

In a speech on behalf of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision at the university, welcomed all attendees and conveyed the greetings of the university president, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majid. He expressed the university’s pride in hosting this distinguished conference that sheds light on one of the most important pillars of higher education development in Iraq.

The conference included a detailed presentation by Dr. Amir Thuwaini, Director of the Information Technology Department at the Ministry, in which he outlined the components and implementation phases of the digital project, along with the key challenges and opportunities associated with it.

The event also witnessed the distribution of unified electronic university ID cards to a number of Al-Mustaqbal University students — one of the outcomes of the national digital transformation project. The Deputy Minister carried out a live trial launch that included charging the cards and conducting electronic purchasing and payment operations, met with enthusiastic interaction and praise from the attendees for this practical initiative.

At the conclusion of the conference, attendees expressed their gratitude to Al-Mustaqbal University for its warm hospitality and excellent organization. They affirmed that the conference constitutes an important step toward the advancement of higher education in Iraq and the realization of smart universities, calling for continued efforts to expand digital transformation across all aspects of university operations in the country.
