2025 – Al-Mustaqbal University launched its inaugural Cybersecurity Forum 2025 today, under the slogan "Towards a Safe and Sustainable Internet." The event, held under the patronage of University President Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, coincides with World Safer Internet Day.
The forum's opening session featured a speech delivered by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Al-Zuhairi, Scientific and Academic Supervisor at the University Presidency, on behalf of the President. Dr. Al-Zuhairi highlighted the importance of the forum, noting its alignment with both International Day of Women and Girls in Science and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
This event marks the first and largest specialized cybersecurity forum in Iraq, bringing together academics, experts, specialists, and representatives from government agencies and relevant sectors. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's directives promoting collaboration between universities, government ministries, and other institutions.
The forum featured workshops and discussion sessions with speakers from various ministries and institutions, reviewing key national cybersecurity initiatives. Prominent speakers included:
* Brigadier General Dr. Hassan Hadi Ladheeth – Director of the Cybersecurity Center, Ministry of Interior.
* Representatives from the Ministry of Communications: Dr. Muammar Nafeh Muhammad and Dr. Muhammad Faris Muhammad.
* Representatives from the National Security Service.
* Dr. Mustafa Sadiq Al-Jumaili – Cybersecurity Specialist, Ministry of Oil.
* Professor Mustafa Al-Moussawi – Cybersecurity Expert.
The forum also showcased interactive workshops and a student project exhibition, highlighting student innovations in cybersecurity and demonstrating the university's commitment to academic excellence and creativity.
The forum's objectives include raising cybersecurity awareness, showcasing the latest solutions and technologies for combating cyber threats, and fostering collaboration between academic institutions and specialized sectors to ensure a safer digital environment.
