As part of its ongoing efforts to achieve global sustainable development goals, Al-Mustaqbal University participated in an international meeting organized by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and in cooperation with York and Columbia Universities. The meeting was held at the invitation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The university’s delegation, led by its president and accompanied by several staff members, discussed the importance of education for sustainable development. They also reviewed a special issue of the "Education for Sustainable Development" journal, which included research contributions from nine countries and more than 21 academic institutions. Innovative pathways to improve education in this field were also presented.

This participation reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable education as a fundamental pillar for achieving long-term sustainable development. The university is a pioneer in Iraq, having established two specialized scientific centers focused on energy research and generative artificial intelligence to support sustainability in education and other sectors of life.
