In its pursuit of global sustainable development goals, AlMustaqbal University took part in a pivotal international meeting organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This gathering, hosted by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, along with York University and Columbia University, emphasized the crucial role of education in achieving sustainability.
Attended by the university president and several faculty members, the meeting showcased the vital importance of education for sustainable development. A special issue of the Education for Sustainable Development Journal was reviewed, featuring research contributions from nine countries and over 21 academic institutions, while innovative strategies for enhancing educational practices in this field were presented.
This participation reflects AlMustaqbal University’s unwavering commitment to promoting comprehensive and sustainable education as a key pillar for long-term development. As a pioneer in Iraq, the university has established two specialized centers focused on energy research and generative artificial intelligence, fostering sustainability across various sectors of life.
Notably, this event is the first of its kind following the Future and Climate Summits for 2024, affirming the alignment of the university's strategic roadmap with the updated guidelines set forth by UNESCO after the Climate Summit.
Through its involvement, AlMustaqbal University reiterates its dedication to advancing sustainable education and contributing to the achievement of global goals, emphasizing the significance of international cooperation and knowledge exchange in facilitating sustainable development worldwide.
