Under the guardianship of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, Department of Building & Construction Engineering has organized “The First Future Forum for Urban Planning” under the slogan “A Better City for a Better Life”.
It is remarkable to note that the Forum was convened on 19th November, 2022. A number of lectures have been delivered, focusing on Sustainable Urban Planning as well as Preservation of Ancients Remains & Cultural Heritage, which shall undoubtedly lead to achieving the requirements of SDG 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities.
The Forum lectures have been delivered in sequence by Eng. Mr. Ali Abbas Al-Timimi / Babylon Municipality Directorate, Mr. Muhammad Tahir Abbas / Babylon Antiquities Inspectorate, Eng. Ms Rawasi Abdallah / coEco Architectural Design Company, Eng. Mr. Khalid Kadhim Salih / Director of Babylon Planning, and Dr Muhammad Zuhair Abdul Ameer / Head of Sustainable Development Unit.
The Forum has included Debate Sessions in which focus has been concentrated on current and future status of Hilla City with the type of obstacles that may disrupt it from becoming a Sustainable City, all together with the solutions required for promoting the Hilla City, the Center of Babylon, being one of the most famous ever in the world.
In addition to the lectures and debate sessions, a Posters Exhibit has been opened during the Forum, and at the closing ceremony of the Forum, Dr. Ali Shakir Majdi, the Session Director and Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdul Hadi Mit’ib Al-Saadi, Head of Building & Construction Engineering Department have distributed Certificates of Participation to the lecturers as well as the guests and Governorate Departments Representatives.
