The Department of Biomedical Engineering at almustaqbal University organizes a scientific trip to the Wareth Derman Center for Intelligent Limbs and Medical Rehabilitation in the Holy Governorate of Karbala.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering organized a scientific trip for the first stage students to the “Wareth Derman Center for Smart Limbs and Medical Rehabilitation.” This center is distinguished by providing a clear vision in the installation and use of upper or lower smart prosthetics, both mechanical and smart.
In order to achieve the university’s vision of achieving the sustainable development goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Establishing Partnerships to Achieve the Goals, and to introduce students to some of the fields of application of their specialization,
During the visit, the students were briefed on the work of the center’s departments and laboratories, the types of smart limbs, and the stages of using the appropriate limb, as diagnosing the appropriate limb for the injured person is the first step. After that, measurements of the patient’s amputated limb are taken to make the socket, and then the limb is manufactured within the center. The owner of the limb is then rehabilitated to use it in his daily life.
